RED CROSS RESILIENCE ULTRA
7 AUGUST 2021
Welcome to the 'Resilience Ultra' which is proudly powered by New Zealand Red Cross. Brought to life as a fundraiser for the largest humanitarian network in the world and in recognition of the bountiful landscapes of the West Coast, this endurance run is not for the faint hearted! Do you have the mental and physical resilience to complete this gruelling ultramarathon?
Starting and finishing in the historic town of Reefton, Resilience will take you on a journey into the past by venturing through the native beech forests and historic goldfields of Victoria Forest Park. Many of the tracks have been formed by linking mining roads, tracks and tramways that are as historic as the relics found along them. These iconic trails reveal many tales and give you a glimpse of what life was once like in “Quartzopolis”.

At 33km, this course provides a test for even the most elite athletes. Setting off from private farmland on the outskirts of Reefton township, you will follow a fully marked course through gravel mining roads and across undulating farmland until you reach the start of the infamous Painkiller Track.
